Cultural Front GRAD
Cultural Front GRAD, Belgrade, offers its Frontiers artists-in-residence an opportunity to spend research time in joint residencies in a number of historical art colonies across Serbia. The network developed by GRAD allows for the artists to access and work with unique and highly specialised communities of craftsmen (such as goldsmiths and pottery makers) in a variety of remote environments. This encourages exploration of craft skills and cultural heritage in relation to the local ecologies, economies and natural materials, the challenges faced today by these remote communities and their inhabitants, and the potential these carry for contemporary art and interdisciplinary practices.
